"Whole Missionary Quilt"

To completely understand this quilt, you need to understand the story behind it.

Last year when I talked to my son at Christmas, he mentioned that he was sleeping with 2 half blankets. One across his legs and the other across his torso. He is 6'3" by the way. I of course asked if he would like to have a quilt and he said that it'd be nice. So I started right away making a quilt for him. It had to be manly and to find a pattern and fabric that was manly was not an easy task. I was finally able to find one I liked here. Then it was off to find the fabric. I started collecting greens and browns and it finally came together. The entire time I was working on it, I told myself I was making him a "whole" quilt and so the name of this quilt naturally became
I loved working on it and thinking that he is sleeping under it. It may be crazy, but the mom in me thinks of it a little bit of home for him.

Here is the back of it. I didn't want to buy more fabric for it, so I used the scraps to make the back
**excuse the pictures...they were taken before I thought of putting them on a blog and until he comes home, I will not be able to get new ones.

Memory Board

I made this memory board last year for my 14 year old daughter's birthday. She absolutely loves it and it was fun to make. I used this pattern. It really is a fun project and I want to make one for my classroom also.
